Lessons Learned

A restfull weekend for me!

This weekend was great! Surrounded by great friends that feel like family. Very nice to get away from home and enjoy farm life. Nice to not have to worry about cleaning and cooking in my own home. I enjoyed every minute. And took lots of pics and got made fun of every time I did. Some people just don't get the art of picture taking. How can you not want to be reminded of every great moment on Thanksgiving weekend?
I'm trying to post these pics but blogger is being finicky! Man, it's hit or miss with this thing. Drives me nuts.
It was funny being in someone else's home, watching them the way they interact with each other and do things in there house. Ryan's family just loves company and they love loudness and love their kids experiments and don't mind mess. They enjoy experiences rather than focus on keeping there house in mint condition. That was a nice lesson to be reminded of. So often, I find myself wanting my house to be as spic and span as it can be, dishes done, no clutter, etc. and I often miss out on extra time that can be spent with Bob or Summer or Ryan or any other company. When I'm on my deathbed, will I think, "Man, I'm glad that I always kept a clean sink and made sure there was no clutter throughout my house!" or will I think, "I loved that I made my family and guests a priority!"
I love to clean and organize....I'm great at it! But sometimes I just have to realize that some things are more important (at certain times) than a load of laundry. This reminds me of an example in Luke....

Luke 10:38-42
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village. And a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary who also sat at Jesus' feet and heard his word. But Martha was distracted with much serving and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone, therefore tell her to help me." And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha Martha. You are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed. And Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."

I also need to be putting Jesus ahead of my house duties as well as any other tasks. He comes first.
