BSTS: Better safe than sorry. I must say that to Bob at least 8 times a day. If not 9. Maybe 10.
I'm just that type of gal. I don't live life on the edge, I am very cautious. I don't think that's bad, I just like to be safe rather than sorry. For example, when Bob's driving on the highway, which part of the road do you think is safest? Riding the yellow line close to all the oncoming trucks and cars? or Riding the white line? White line thank-you! BSTS.
And, in desiring to pass an old dump truck but can't really see what's ahead, what should you do? Ride the dump trucks behind until you can see, or keep your distance to avoid rocks that could smash our new van's windshield? Once again, BSTS. Keep your distance! You think I want a cracked windshield after a couple months of owning a new van? Heck no! Bob and I made a bet...he said that within 4 years, our van would have a crack or chip in it from a rock. I say that if you drive with the BSTS motto in mind, you should not get a crack/chip in the windshield. Now, there's only so much we can do to prevent that; there's other outside influences that are just beyond our control. But if we do all we can do, than we know we've done our best.
"Make it a better place....for you and for me and the entire human race. There are....people dying, if you care enough for the living..." Sorry, I had to re-live a jr. high choir memory. Why those songs still pop in my head out of nowhere is beyond me. I can't even remember what I did yesterday but yet I can still remember all the old choir songs from Ber'k School.
Back to BSTS. Another moto that I say that goes along with that is "Whatever the weather, bring a sweater." You don't know how many times I've worn a tanktop or shirt to go shopping because it's hot out but then I freeze my butt off in the malls or stores or restaurants. So, whatever the weather.......I always take my sweater with me "just in case". You might think I'm a little obsessed but BSTS. I've started calling my sweater a "shawl". Bob and I are starting a family and we're taking that next step and re-evaluating our priorities (getting older), so it's only fitting to call my sweater a shawl. hahahahahahahaha!
Another BSTS moment. In parking our van, why try to squeeze into a parking space that we "just" fit in that happens to be right close to the mall, when we can park the van a minute away where there's absolutely no vehicles around it? BSTS. Once again, we've done our part, but there could be other factors involved (other parking vehicles) that could open their door into our van. That's out of our control though. At least we've done our part.
Most of these examples have to do with our van, but don't worry, I'll be sure to list more BSTS moments.
