So the first 2 nights with Summer weren't that pleasant. She fussed and cried till 3am and finally went to sleep, waking up at 6:40am, both mornings.
But by last night, I guess I've finally got the swing of things and we all had a great night's sleep! She fed at midnight, went to sleep till 3pm, and then after changing her and feeding her, she went back to sleep at 4:20am, waking up at 7:30am, changing/feeding, and then back to sleep till 10:00am! I actually woke up singing "Oh Happy Day!". It was wonderful.
The health nurse popped by yesterday to weigh Summer and give me a bunch of info and Summer had lost weight, which is normal after birth. But she scheduled to pop by today to see if Summer gained any weight in the last 24 hours. I was nervous because Summer only feeds like, 10 minutes here, 5 minutes there, 12 minutes here, 8 minutes there. It seems like it's too short, but there's nothing I can do about it. She just falls asleep and will NOT wake up no matter what I do. I strip her naked, I put cool clothes on her head/body, I tickle her....NOTHING will wake her. But at the same time, when she is feeding, it seems like she's taking in a lot of milk.
So, when the nurse came today, I was nervous that she wouldn't have gained any weight and then I'd be in trouble or something. But alas, she gained 60 grams!!! The nurse was so happy she gave me a high five! The nurse said normally in 24 hours, the baby gains 15-30 so she was really happy that Summer gained a whoppin 60 grams! I was relieved too cuz obviously I'm doing something right!
Any tips you mothers out there want to give me regarding ANYTHING, let me know.
Man, posting pics on here takes so long! Is it just me and my computer or does anyone else find this too?
K, gotta go clean up a bit...I'm expecting company!

Nice that you got some sleep- i hear that's rare. I'm so glad Summer put the weight back on- gosh everything seems so scary for the first time eh? I'd be in the energency room everyday I just know it. My mom is going to have to live with me for like a year after I have my first kid.
just keep doin' what you're doin'. sounds like motherhood is in you - through and through. :) :) :) great job, kris.
Thanks Holly! I am so glad you started blogging. Hope all is well, we miss you guys and Hillside
Hey Kris, I can't tell you anything about mother hood however, after helping Lisa with Josh I can tell you somethings they tried. You should look into swaddling. It sounds mean but it's really good for the baby and helps prevent SIDS. Lisa does it with Josh. He has slept through the whole night since he was a month old because they swaddled him when he slept. I don't know, just something to look into.
