Hey everyone! Summer's finally here! Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! I'll give you brief details on what happened.
Saturday night at 10:30pm, we went to the Three Hills hospital cuz i was having contractions every 6 minutes. Only my doc and another doc and a few nurses were on call that night so my doc was not happy. We stayed the night and by 8am, I wasn't dialated enough for the lenth of time between my contractions. So they sent me by ambulence to Red Deer Hospital (45 min. away). That was scary but they didn't drive fast; I told them I'd be scared if they drove fast.
Bob got there 20 min. later and the contractions only got worse. I told them as soon as i got there that i wanted an epidural. They gave me enema and broke my water at 6 cm and they said that the epidural guy was in OR and wouldn't be there for at least 45 min. I wanted to die. Next time I asked, it was 30 min. Next time it was 20. Next time they told me 20 AGAIN! I was ready to march down to OR and demand the epidural. I'm sure Bob was too cuz i did nothing except grab at his skin on his face, arms, shoulder, neck and pull and dig and scratch. I was even throwing around a pillow I was so mad.
Finally at 8cm, he arrived. I loved life. The epidural went fine and i was supposed to stay still for 2 min after and I actually fell asleep. I loved life with that epidural. I delivered Summer with absoultely no pain at all. I would rather deliver 10 babies in a row then go through the contractions that I went through. Not lying. Summer was so easy to deliver.
She was 8 lbs 8 oz. Bigger baby than I thought I'd have. She was 20.5 inches and was born at 6:43pm Sunday night. I was so happy when it was over.....happy that it was over and happy that we had our baby girl! The doctor almost didn't make it to our room to deliver her, the two nurses there were prepared to do it. But he made it just in time.
My mom didn't get there till an hour or so after the birth. I was trying to feed Summer at the time and mom comes running into the room and is all, "Did you have the baby?" and i'm all, "yaaahhh". and she's all, "So i missed it?" and i'm all, "yahhhh". i was so confused cuz the baby was right there laying on me. Then she was all, "But you're still pushing!!!" so I was all, "MOM, THE BABY'S RIGHT HERE!" and then she was like, "OH MY DEAR!!!!" and came running over. wow, blonde moment. it was funny.
Later, Mom, Uncle James and Bob went out to eat and by 10:30pm, my nurse was gonna help me shower. by the time we made it to the shower, i felt faint and told her i needed to sit. when i did, i fainted on her and she woke me up. i was right out of it and couldn't see a thing or hold my own head up. VERY SCARY! then i guess i fainted again and she had to push the emergency alarm and next thing i know i have four nurses hovered over me, holding me up and throwing wet cold clothes on me. when i came to, i bear hugged two nurses around their waists and grabbed the waist of their pants cuz i was so scared. they got me in a wheel chair and i fainted again on the way to the room. then they lifted me to my new bed and i was right cold, so they put tons of blankets on me. apparently i lost A LOT of blood cuz my blood pressure was fine and everything else was fine. Bob got there an hour later and him and the nurse then tried again to get me to the bathroom. fainted AGAIN! scariest thing ever!!!
By Monday at noon, i was feeling a bit better and could stand on my own, but not for a long time.
We got home today at supper time and all has been well. i guess this isn't as brief as i thought it would be. here are a few pics...i'll post more later cuz it takes a long time for this computer to upload pics.

Anne you are SO rude!
Congratulations she is beautiful! I'm so happy to see that she is here and you GOT THE DRUGS! I tried all the lamaze tricks with Emma for hours, then I got the epidural and it was heaven. I slept, Scott slept, everything was wonderful. As soon as I had my first contraction with Maelynn, I walked into the hospital backwards and said, "Just give me the drugs". I figure I wouldn't get a root canal "natural" now would I?
Anne's comment made me do a quick double take- I'm a HORRIABLE speller so I very well could have said that somehow. I would have loved to see everyone's face if I had in fact HA!
Hey guys!!!
Welcome to the world, Summer!!! What a beautiful name...and a beautiful girl. Bob, fatherhood looks good on you!!! :) Great job, Kristal. Don't faint anymore, k??! Praying for you all.
And yes, epidurals are a gift from God!!! Hallelujah. ;)
Hey guys, Congratulations on the birth of Summer. She looks beautiful. I hope all is well with mom and babby.
